Charles Hoskinson, The God Father of Cardano

Learn about the man you founded Cardano, one of the biggest names in smart contracts and digital currencies.

There are so many different founders, and large personalities in the cryptocurrency space. One of my favourites is Charles Hoskinson, who is also the founder of ADA, also one of my favourite cryptocurrencies.

Charles Hoskinson is an American entrepreneur, he is the co-founder of blockchain engineering company Input Output Global .Inc, and the Cardano blockchain platform. Hoskinson was also a co-founder of the Ethereum blockchain platform (the 2nd largest cryptocurrency).

In 2013, Hoskinson joined the Ethereum project as chief executive. He was later removed from the project over a dispute with founder Vitalik Buterin, over whether or not Ethereum should be commercial (Hoskinson), or nonprofit (Buterin)

After leaving Ethereum, Hoskinson co-founded IOHK, an engineering and research company, to build blockchains and cryptocurrencies.

Cardano is the key project of the company, a public blockchain and smart contract platform that hosts the ADA cryptocurrency. Hoskinson did not pursue venture capital funding for Cardano as he stated that it would lead to outsized control of the project.

Hoskinson has invested heavily in the development of blockchain technology. In 2017, IOHK sponsored research at the University of Edinburgh and Tokyo Institute of Technology.

In 2020, !0HK donated $500,000 to the University of Wyoming to create a blockchain laboratory, and the Blockchain research Hub in the Electrical Engineering Apartment at Stanford University, which was funded $4.5 million over three years, aimed to enable smartphones to handle blockchain transactions while offline.

Charles Hoskinson is one of the most active voices in the community and is someone you can learn a lot from. Plus his contribution to development and education will help build this new system over the coming decades.

If you want to learn more about Charles I suggest you check him out on Youtube where he streams almost every day.
