Who is Adam Back?

Bitcoin didn’t just appear out of nowhere!

There were precursors that lead to its development.

One of these was HashCash, created by the wonderful Adam Back!

Adam Back is a British cryptographer and cypherpunk. He is the CEO and founder of BlockStream, and the creator of HashCash, which is used in the Bitcoin mining process.

Back is a pioneer of digital asset research, and has been heavily involved with Bitcoin since its inception.

He was one of the first two people to receive email contact from Satoshi Nakamoto.

Back is also rumoured to be Nakamoto

Here is some of the evidence that points to this:

• Described the technology as far back as 1998.

• Before the publication of the Bitcoin white paper in 2008, his papers were coincidentally removed.

• After Satoshi’s departure, Back appeared on bitcointalk.org, acting as if he had been there for some time.

• Back’s first posts on bitcointalk.org show that his technical understanding of blockchain was more advanced than others.

Back may be one of the names considered when asking the question Who is Nakamoto?

But…

Either way, it is unlikely the Bitcoin would have been created if it wasn’t for his invention of HashCash.
